This road climbs to the highest peak in the Natural Park Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche and the province of Huelva, the Cerro de los Bonales. This is cool and moist by the combination of two factors, the latitude and the altidude. There is alos the Atlantic influence which can allow us to enjoy winter snow above 1000 metres.
You pass green woodlands with chestnut trees and the remnants of the indigenous forest of Pyrenean oak (Quercus pyrenaica).
The distance is approximately 8 km to the summit of the Bonales, leaving Arroyomolinos de León, the old cobblestone road, climbing up the Cuesta de los Olivos.
A really nice and enjoyable walk!
