"Combining Activity Holidays with Nature and Wildlife"
Sierra Mountain Refuge are experts in guided walking, trekking and the nature activities in the Sierra de Aracena, Andalucia.
We have bases in both Seville and our own refuge in the mountains for you to enjoy. The area is ideal for year round walking and hiking and getting "up close and personal" with nature and wildlife!
We invite you visit and enjoy the privileged natural environment. Great walking, trekking and mountain biking is available and a warm welcome is extended to all visitors.
Visiting the natural park de Aracena and Picos de Aroche is more than just an unforgettable experience in nature. It is also an important contribution to our local economy. This is a declared Biosphere Reserve. Sierra Mountain Refuge has just been awarded with the label "Aula Naturaleza" for projects about recuperation of traditions linked to agriculture and livestock and preserving flora and fauna.
We discourage the use of motor vehicles unless necessary. If staying at Refugio Bonales guests make the lovely 1.5hr walk from Arroyomolinos de Leon accompanied by pack mules if needed.
During your visit you will participate in traditional Andalusian culture and experience what is special and unique in this part of the Sierra de Aracena. The cuisine of the mountains you'll love for its simplicity, taste, and its seasonality.
From the first moment you will be helping to preserve wildlife and traditions as part of the revenue is used directly to help local projects. During your stay we will inform you of those being carried out. Just being our guest at the shelter will contribute in any of our projects. Thank you for your participation.

Wildlife and Birdwatching
Amid the remains of old Mediterranean forests and pastures stands the "Bonales Mountain Refuge". An excellent habitat and wildlife reserve, both flora and fauna.
The Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Arcohe are excellent areas to see Andalucias incredibly varied birdlife. We have many birdwatching groups use the refuge and receive trip reports from clients.
We seek to maintain a balance between animals and plants in order that both feed off each other: the plants directly feed the animals, the animals fed the soil with their manure and this in turn feeds plants. We run courses or retreats for those who wish to know more about self sufficiency and the traditional workings of the past. Read more
